Bookmarklets - Right-click on the links below and choose "Add to Favorites" (for Internet Explorer) or "Bookmark this link" (Mozilla Firefox) or simply drag them to your browser's Pesonal toolbar to create browser buttons to help you quickly Zap Read material..

Zap Read - After you've added this bookmarklet, select text on a web page and then click your new "ZAP Read" Favorite or Bookmark to ZAP Read the selected text.

Zap Read Page - After you've added this bookmarklet, click the "Zap Read Page" Favorite or Bookmark to Zap Read the content on the page you are currently viewing.(Note: Currently this only brings in text that is inside HTML paragraph <P> tags. It may not work on all sites, but should work on most without bringing in a lot of navigation and other things. It should improve over time.)

iPhone Bookmarklet - This adds a Zap Read Page type bookmarklet to the iPhone. Special thanks for Amy Maxwell for providing these instructions.

Create a bookmarklet on iPhone Safari browser:

1. While viewing this page, press the + button then "Add Bookmark" and "Save." (Safari won't allow you to edit the url here so you'll have to come back and fix it.)
2. Copy the following text to your iPhone's clipboard: 
javascript:location.href='http://www.zapreader.com/reader?URL='+encodeURIComponent(location.href); 
3. In Safari, press the bookmark icon then the edit button. Select the Zap Reader shortcut that you just made.  Replace the URL with the bookmarklet URL that you just copied. Press done until you return to your browser.

To use the Zap Reader bookmarklet on the iPhone:
1. Go to the page you want to read.
2. Press the bookmark icon then the Zap Reader bookmark.
3. Turn your iphone to landscape then 'stretch' and move the page so that the text will fill the screen.  Press play.

Add a "Send to Zap Reader" Option in Google Reader - If you are using Google Reader to aggregate your blogs and news site, you can add a new "Send to" option.

  1. Log into your Google Reader account.
  2. Click on Settings in the top right-hand corner.
  3. Clickon the Send to link.
  4. On the Send To setting page:
    1. Click the button for Create a custom link. A new section will open for you to enter the following details:
      Name: Zap Reader
      URL: http://www.zapreader.com/reader?URL=${url}
      Icon URL: http://zapreader.com/favicon.ico
    2. Click the Save button.
  5. When you want to Zap Read a post, scroll down to the bottom of the post and click the Send To link and then select Zap Reader. "Zap Read This Post" Plugin for WordPress - If you are using a WordPress blog, download this ZIP file, extract it into your wp-content/plugins directory, upload it to your web site, and then activate it on the Plugins tab of your Administrative Panel. It will add a nice "Zap Read This" button before every post on your blog. Your visitors can click the button to open a new tab or window where they can Zap Read your post. (Note: This is a 0.0.1 release and may be buggy. If you install it, be sure to let me know of any problems you experience.)

"Zap Read This" Button for Blogger - If you are using a Blogger blog, here are instructions on how you can add a "Zap Read This" button to the top of each of your posts so that your visitors can Zap Read it. The techniques presented here may also be applicable to other systems or extensions. (Note: This is a 0.0.1 release and may be buggy. If you use it, be sure to let me know of any problems you experience.)

"Zap Read This" Button for TypePad Blogs - If you are using a TypePad blog, here are instructions on how you can add a "Zap Read This" button to the top of each of your posts so that your visitors can Zap Read it. "Zap Read This" Button for SharePoint Blogs - If you are using a SharePoint blog in WSS v3 or MOSS 2007, add a Content Editor Web Part on the default.aspx and Lists/Posts/Post.aspx pages, and copy the code for this script and paste it as the source code for both of them. (Note: This is a 0.0.1 release and may be buggy. If you use it, be sure to let me know of any problems you experience.)

Greasemonkey Scripts for Firefox - Make it super easy to Zap Read your favorite web sites!

Zap Read Button for Yahoo! Mail - This is a Greasemonkey script for the Firefox web browser. If you have already installed the Greasemonkey extension, simply right-click on the link on the left and choose "Install User Script". When you view a mail message in Yahoo! Mail, you will now see a "Zap Read This!" button at the top of it. (Note: This is a 0.1 release and may be buggy. If you use it, be sure to let me know of any problems you experience.)

Zap Read Button for Bloglines - This is a Greasemonkey script for the Firefox web browser. If you have already installed the Greasemonkey extension, simply right-click on the link on the left and choose "Install User Script". When you use Bloglines, you will now see a "Zap Read This!" button at the beginning of each article. (Note: This is a 0.1 release and may be buggy. If you use it, be sure to let me know of any problems you experience.)

Zap Read Button for BibleGateway.com - This is a Greasemonkey script for the Firefox web browser. If you have already installed the Greasemonkey extension, simply right-click on the link on the left and choose "Install User Script". When you use BibleGateway.com, you will now see a "Zap Read This!" button at the beginning of each Bible passage. (Note: This is a 0.1 release and may be buggy. If you use it, be sure to let me know of any problems you experience.)

Zap Read Button for Wikipedia - This is a Greasemonkey script for the Firefox web browser. If you have already installed the Greasemonkey extension, simply right-click on the link on the left and choose "Install User Script". When you use Wikipedia, you will now see a "Zap Read This!" button at the beginning of each entry. (Note: This is a 0.1 release and may be buggy. If you use it, be sure to let me know of any problems you experience.)
